Poverty







Poverty is a multifaceted concept which may include social, economic, political elements.
Absolute poverty refers to the complete lack of the means necessary to meet basic personal needs such as food,clothing and shelter.
                                             Two-third of people in India live in poverty,though India is one  of the largest economies in the world.But only a small percentage of the population is benefited  from this. This makes India one of the poor countries in the world.

CAUSES OF POVERTY
  1. climatic factor---poor soil condition,inadequate access to water,desert,hill area
  2. climate change --- flood,drought
  3. inequality-----land,resource distribution
  4. conflict /caste system
  5. poor education/lack of skill
  6. over population/large family
  7. unemployment
  8. limited capacity of Govt
EFFECTS OF POVERTY
  1. high infant mortality rate
  2. malnutrition/diseases
  3. lack of education
  4. child labour
  5. child marriage 
PREVENTION OF POVERTY
  1. create jobs
  2. raise the minimum wages
  3. support pay equity
  4. provide paid sick days
  5. helps--fund raising (group work or individual),donation of old belongings,groceries and moral consolation 
  6. better infrastructure
  7. favourable govt policies,grants,aids are necessary to prevent poverty in India
